Bedchamber of the Bierjun Farmstead (Late Middle Ages)

This restored bedchamber from the Bierjun Farm (near St. Ulrich / Ortisei and Überwasser/Oltretorrente) with its special equipment dates back to the late Middle Ages. Since the summer of 2007, visitors have been able to view it for the first time in a special multimedia presentation.

The red chalk drawings preserved on wooden planks date back to the year 1490, and depict profane (non-religious) and religious motifs. Visitors can view these impressive works of art via an "electronic window" and in a trailer.

The exhibition emphasizes the significance of red chalk drawings as a rare example of religious piety in the private sphere, and also allows a deeper look at the architectural history of the farmstead and the special features of the architecture of the farms of Gröden/Gardena.

...more information is available in the press release on the grand opening of the exhibition.
